Travelling the world

An expat living abroad in Europe - an export really. Ten years on and I’m no longer the accidental tourist. Europe, UK, Australia, Singapore/Malaysia - I’ve either travelled extensively or lived there. I love travel - the journey, the history, the people, the adventure, the learning. Seeing the world with new eyes and just appreciating what is there. How far the journey I have come. My latest craze is hiking long distance trails - mainly along old monastic / pilgrimage routes. I love old buildings and it’s a way of connecting me with people from the past, their hopes and dreams. Travel taught me, that people are basically the same. And it is through food and culture that we come to have a dialogue. I am incredibly grateful. Thank you for spending some time with me. And do leave a comment so that I know you’ve been by.

Camino Finisterre – Bus Timetable To Santiago

I know it was quite hard to find the bus schedule from Finisterre to Santiago. It may have been in some Spanish site, but it wasn't found by me. So I figured I'd write this down before I forget. Below... Continue Reading →

Camino Finisterre – Day 1 – London to Santiago de Compostela

I'm rather in awe that I'm here again. Only 4 and a half months ago, I was in awe that I'd completed the camino Frances- albeit with manky feet. Since then, I'd been on a stint on the Camino del... Continue Reading →

Camino group walk – Finsbury Park to Stoke Newington

The London Commute – Waterloo and City Line

If you've ever wondered what a commute is like in London, here's a picture of the queue to get to Bank on the Warerloo City line at around 8.40 am. Commuters quietly queuing and inching their way into these... Continue Reading →

Lisbon weekend – Day 4 – Lisbon to London

This has been a year of firsts. So, on this trip, I have another first. After Hubs flew off on the Sunday, I decided to stay on my own for an extra night in Lisbon. I worked out the cost... Continue Reading →

Lisbon weekend – Day 3 – A foodie kind of day

After our big sightseeing day yesterday, Hubs and I were at a loss as to what to see. There was so much to see yet, we did not feel the mood, our time being constrained by flights Hubs had to... Continue Reading →

Rugby World Cup 2015 – Australia vs Wales – Live photo updates

Lisbon weekend – Day 2 – Lisbon to Belem

Breakfast at the hotel was nice if not a little bit chaotic. We were seated in the nice old section of the hotel with very high ceilings and gilded patterns. But the buffet was set out in a tiny room... Continue Reading →

Lisbon weekend – Day 1 – London to Lisbon

I like living in London. And this is why: I get to go to cities like Lisbon for a long weekend. I'm rather excited. It's been a long time since I had done a city trip - probably Istanbul 2... Continue Reading →
