Occasionally, we find some cool things to do in London. Cool but tres geeky. Currently we’ve decided it’s cool to try to read up on the British presence in Malaya and Singapore – from the original documentation. Not the rolled up, interpreted versions that we had to learn from school. Rather, as close to first hand experience as we can get, so that we can learn to form our own impression of our own history. Oh, it’s way too geeky even for me. But I’m looking forward to the experience. Because. And I couldn’t do this anywhere else. That’s what makes it cool. Because I can. And nothing more. Can’t wait. ……really, I’m actually quite excited at the thought.
An expat living abroad in Europe - an export really. Ten years on and I’m no longer the accidental tourist. Europe, UK, Australia, Singapore/Malaysia - I’ve either travelled extensively or lived there. I love travel - the journey, the history, the people, the adventure, the learning. Seeing the world with new eyes and just appreciating what is there. How far the journey I have come. My latest craze is hiking long distance trails - mainly along old monastic / pilgrimage routes. I love old buildings and it’s a way of connecting me with people from the past, their hopes and dreams. Travel taught me, that people are basically the same. And it is through food and culture that we come to have a dialogue. I am incredibly grateful. Thank you for spending some time with me. And do leave a comment so that I know you’ve been by.
